The world into a city
London is one of the most cosmopolitan cities; indeed a large number of Londoners were born abroad. The city has more than 30 ethnic groups from different continents. By discovering London and British culture, you can also discover the different multicultural neighborhoods that allow you to travel discovering food, products or customs from around the world. In London, we speak up to 300 languages.
Like Chinatown, one of the most touristy. The panels are written in two languages. There are many Chinese products shops and Asian restaurants there.
Then, there is the Brixton district, populated by immigrants from the former British West Indies and their descendants. There is a market where all Caribbean products are sold. You can also discover Bangladesh around the Adgate East subway station and Brick Lane. In this neighborhood called Benglatown all panels are also bilingual!
There are all the products from Bangladesh (fabrics, food, music...) and you can discover the food of this country in many restaurants that border Brick lane.
There is also the Jewish Quarter, where Jewish products are sold.
Moreover, there is also the African district of Dalston and including Ridley Street market. then the Turkish district of London around Kingsland road. We see mosques, families in traditional clothes and we can find all products from Turkey.
To conclude, we can find an important multiculuralism in this country. People from any different culture live in community in the same city. In my opinion, London is very wealthy about this sharing.
I agree with your article, Londre is a very cosmopolitan city to be there already. I loved being in the neighborhoods because each neighborhood has its own characteristics and I find it enriching to see signs "bilangue" because the inhabitants do not feel disturbed if they have the country. London but also other cities have been able to adapt to their population and conversely I find this remarkable because we can travel through several cultures in the same city. I think that London could develop even more with a neighborhood by origin or ethnicity but also by dress style as the punk neighborhood in Camden Town it should make neighborhoods rock... The government should also advertise this diversity of London neighbourhoods.
