BTS - The boys band that revolutionized globalization !

BTS (방탄소년단)

We all know that “music” is considered as global culture because although each culture is different, music unifies all races and has been used throughout history for different occasions and for enjoyment purposes.
Today, I wanted to talk about a very famous Korean boys band because it's a group that I really appreciate, I can say that I have grown with them since I'm thirteen and thanks to them I'm actually learning Korean.
For me, they represent global culture. They knew how to succeed although their differences, moreover, they created a new kind of global fandom that embraces diversity.

The South Korean boys band I’m talking about is BTS also named Bangtan boys which officially existed since June 12 2013. This group is composed of seven members, their names are Jin ( ), Suga (슈가), J-Hope (제이홉), Jimin (지민), Rap monster (랩몬스터), V () and Jung kook (정국).

The particularity about this group is that they were able to stand out and create something new, in mixing the song with a dance performance, and rap without forgetting the sincerity of their lyrics. Each person was able to identify themselves and to feel what they felt.
As a result, it did work very well because they've been rewarded, they held onto their early lead to beat candidates like Planet Earth and US President Donald Trump (on social media).
Their song have reached more than 400 millions of views on Youtube.

Moreover, two of their albums became number one albums in the Billboard Top 200, they beat Justin Bieber to become Top Social Artist of 2018, and are the most talked artist in the world.

The group loyal fanbase know as ARMY, "listens to celebrate BTS as a culture" according to the entertainment company.

Thanks to them there has been a real BOOM of K-pop!

For the ARMY, it's more than being the listening and the listener, they prefer saying "family" because even if the BTS don't know them, they have been able to console, to understand the ARMY and even the other people and they make them understand that through videos, song or even event...

Mexico, Taiwan, U.S.A, Brazil, and Malaysia make up the 10th, 9th, 8th, 7th, and 6thcountries with the most BTS fans respectively. Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia have the next most ARMYs in the worldAmazingly, South Korea takes only 2nd place in terms of having the most ARMYs with around 495 000 official fans (you mustn’t forget the non-official!). And the first country with the most BTS fans is the Philippines.

Before them, they were a lot of Korean bands but any of them was able to do what they did and become an "International Icon". They are now achieving what PSY and Wonder Girls failed to accomplish.

Also now, they're celebrating a truly unprecedented rise. In may, they became the first South Korean band in history to debut an album at No. 1 on the US Billboard chart, as well as the first with a single at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.  All this success featured a huge collaboration with Nicki Minaj, on a new version of their song “Idol.”

To conclude, we can say that BTS is the pure exemple of globalization. What helped them the most to achieve their goals was that today there is no longer barrier when it comes to love and sharing with one another. So, even if there is no doubt that American culture is the dominant global culture, they must be careful because the Asian Culture begin to shade the American one.
