Skate The World

Skate The Wolrd

If I’ve choose the Skateboard to interpret the Global culture, it’s because since the 50’ and mostly the 90’, Skateboarding is becoming mainstream and all skaters can identifies themselves to others, no matter where they come from or how they are dressed, they share the same passion.

Skateboard can be defined as a global sport because everybody can ride, no matter where you are or who you are, you only need a board and a flat place to invest yourself and have lot of fun.

Skateboard comes from the USA. It’s only after the first contest (skateboard competition) in 1963 that the skateboard flue through Europe, and all around the world. In my opinion, Skateboard represent the case of an cultural assimilation, because people took this sport and assimilate it by modifying it according to their own cultural codes, for example with the dress codes or the music.

Personally, if I’ve choose Skateboard it’s because this sport interest me a lot. Indeed, I used to be a Skater, and nowadays as if I don’t practice anymore, I’m still a big fan of the Skate universe who is extremely rich, whether with the music, clothes and style, values or the friendship and fraternity that is very present in this sport.
