Fashions weeks; a global culture

We have all heard about Fashions Weeks, but are we sure what these events really are?

Everything os explained in its name, the fashion week is a fashion week, where ready-to-wear and seam houses will present in the form of a parade their collections to journalists and the world. It takes place six times a year, and two collections are presented: the Fall / Winter collection and the Spring / Summer collection.

However, there are three types of fashion week:
- women’s ready-to-wear,
- men’s ready-to-wear
- « haute couture » (High design)
This event takes place in the four Capitals of fashion, ie New York, London, Milan and Paris. Only Paris hosts fashion week «haute couture ».
It is reserved to fashion professionals thaï can attend only by invitation. Only important people, best customers and celebrities, who represent the style of the brand, are invited.A parade lasts about 10 minutes, and there are about ten a day. Brands like Chanel, Valentino, or Balmain, are chosen by the Federation and are part of the official calendar, that is to say that they parade every year.

Fashion week is therefore part of our global culture, because it is an event that all countries hear about and that many people from different countries are invited to attend. Each fashion week is a cultural appropriation because, for example, Paris fashion week will be inspired in France to create its clothes. But since clothes are exported abroad and therefore bought by foreigners, this is a cultural assimilation. I am interested in this event because I think it is something we can discuss in class, but also because I really like fashion, its creators and its world. We can use the term multiculturality because through these 4 fashions weekends, we can see 4 different fashion styles, all belonging to a particular country.

The fashion week, is a subject known worldwide, which brings together the biggest fans of this world on their passion for fashion.
