A new vision of fashion and cultural openness

I think that these pictures represent the global culture. Indeed, I find that fashion, which includes clothes, makeup, bags, jewelry, perfume... represents the multiculturalism. I think that fashion represents the personality of people. I think that fashion adapts to all cultures and highlights beauty by representing different cultures, lifestyles, origins...

Since few years, fashion, shows several nationalities, origins, morphologies, skin colors that shows that beauty is universal.
The covers of magazines represent the interculturality with their different models. As we can see on these pictures, models have different skin colors, are of different origins and represent the beauty of the brand.
Fashion shows bring together international stylists and bring together different styles, points of view, different cultures that give life to fashion and that represent the beauty of diversity. Designers find their inspiration in their culture, which allows fashion to be multicultural and to meet different styles, different cultures within the same parade.

Fashion has opened up to global culture. Parades, competition like miss France, miss universe also represent the globalization. As we can see on these pictures, the candidates have different skin colors, are of different nationalities (Columbia, France, Haiti…) and participate in the same competition and parade. I find that these differences are a richness and represent the beauty of fashion.
I think that it’s a cultural appropriation because brands take ownership of the different ways of life of each country.
I choose these pictures because I like fashion, I like watching miss’s election, reading magazines... Fashion interests me and I find that it’s very important that the multiculturalism is also present in fashion. I find the last photo is really beautiful, because the candidates, despite their different origins, skin colors, despite the competition, hold hands, and have a smile.

  2. Hey Maureen,

I totally agree with you. I think that fashion is a good exemple of globalisation. We all wear clothes which came from all around the world. Clothes could be made in one country and sold in another. The brands have a country of origin but are present in the whole world, for exemple, ZARA came from Spain but we can find Zara’s shop in USA, France, England, China…
Furthermore, like we can see on your picture, brands organise shows to show their collections and like you said and like we can see on the first picture, women from all around the world, with différent color of skins can represente the same brand…
Fashion is also really important in miss’s election and it is important to highlight the fact that these elections are realized in many countries around the world and watched by many spectators.

So you have choose a really good exemple to show us the impact fashion in the globalisation.
