Disneyland : A global culture
The Walt Disney Company has opened six parks all over the world, as we can see on the picture, to reach most people : two in the United States (California and Florida), one in France to be in Europe, and three in Asia (Hong Kong, Tokyo and Shanghai) . The first theme park was opened in California, 60 years ago. It was the only park that Walt Disney saw alive. It was all created by Walt Disney himself. Its popularity led to the opening in 1971 of Disney World, a resort comprising four theme parks in Florida. Disney parks followed in Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong and most recently, Shanghai.
The goal of this setting up in every corner of the globe is to introduce the American culture.
It obviously represents a global culture for some reasons. First, in Disney
Movies, all the culture are represented, Asian with Mulan, the Middle Est with Aladdin, etc…
Moreover, everyone, in every corner of the globe know Disney’s film, and should be able to have fun wherever he is.
The opening of this new park in Shanghai with brand new technology should reach not only Disney fans, but also new technology fans who want to see something new and different.
We can say that it’s a case of cultural assimilation because the idea is still the same, make people have fun with his family or his friends, even if the country is different.
This expansion of the Disney dream reach many exchanges between population because it can bring tourist who want to discover Disneyland differently, and Disney fans. Even if, in the first way, French people didn’t agreed about the creation of this park because the American were not enough sophisticated and eat badly.
So, to conclude we can say that Disneyland represent a global culture because it bring people for all over the world together to enjoy their moment.
To begin with, I would like to say that I agree with the choice of this topic because, ether to the writter, I think that Disney Land represent the globalization of our culture. It represent global culture in a way that all of the stories which are represented in a magical way in the theme park are known by everyone. The fact that more and more park open around the word means that no matters where you are from, you have the knowledge of those stories in common with the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteFurther, I also agree with the writter when she says that each stories represents different cultures in more countries. I think that this is what makes Disney so special for a lot of people because they all share the feeling of being integrated to those fairy tales. More important, they can identify themselves to the characters because Disney always try to improve and to create new characters in different cultures than the previous ones.
Also, I would like to say that Disney Land is a place where people can dream and enjoy spending their time without having any kind of jugment, a place of fantasy and hope, not only for children, but for those who want to share with people they love because this is the ultimate goal of Walt Disney.
