Wikipedia : A land who avocate multiculturalism

"Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia, free and multilingual, the number of definitions varies from one language to another, the most complete being the English version. It is based on a web server using Wiki technology, ie a site where everyone can edit the content." this is the definition of wikipedia.

Since 2001 wikipedia has been created and this for a specific purpose to be able to gather on a single platform online global knowledge of the entire planet. After 17 years of activity wikipedia remains in the top 10 most visited sites with daily 500 million visitors, 36.9 million articles are written, corrected, improved by some 2 million contributors a day !

The utopia that wanted to create Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger the two co-founder of Wikipedia worked well! Indeed Wikipedia is a free site is allows each person on the planet to have access to a bank of data "unlimited", each can write an article, correct or give an opinion on the reliability of an article.

The reason for such a success is simple the site advocate the exchange of knowledge between different cultures is a real land of exchange of multiculturalism, more site is free to access, articles can be correct or change depending on the news, knowledge is accessible in a click, more than 200 languages available.
All this is also done for a particularly ambitious purpose: brings together all the world knowledge that we accumulate to make them intelligible by machines "to make computers more and more intelligent"

In conclusion wikipedia is a wonderful initiative that allows people of culture, ethen, of different origins to share their knowledge for a common purpose: to knowledge.
Far from the negative image that may have wikipedia for some, the site is a real "utopia" that works and has not finished to impress us for years to come.
